amused by my utter fail
So I just found my resolutions for this year. LOL.

1) I will exercise.
2) I will finish F&F.
3) I will teach myself CSS.
4) I will make myself an online folio.
5) I will write, and publish my writing.
6) I will learn to say 'no'.
7) I will put away at least one third of my pay each week and not touch it.
8) If I am not writing, I will read.
9) ...or play video games.

10) I will be punctual.
11) I will participate in NaNoMango with [info - personal] kuchibue and reward her for her participation with this year's NaNovel.

I think we call this year a write-off. XD I did attain some awesome things I did not write down, though, so it's not as bad as all that. STILL. LOL, #1-6. ...although technically I guess #5 I did, since, y'know, doc writer. >_> I published my writing today, after all.

Anyway, today was not awful - things are still going alarmingly well as far as the project goes, and everything should be available tomorrow morning. I will be unutterably relieved to get rid of this thing, though the next is really no better.

I get to pick my new desk on Friday. Have no idea where I would like to be. Probably facing a window so that I don't get glare on my monitors, because that drives me bugfuck, but aside from that I really do not know. We're all on a training course next week, and after an early meeting tomorrow I'm starting work on a new project. We need to have stuff bundled off to QE by Friday, though. At least this means they can QE stuff pretty thoroughly over the week my team is being taught how to not use our Linux boxes as toasters.

Anyway, must go. Word war begins very shortly. :)

[EDIT] And I am all out of Holmes to watch. ;_; My heart. It is breaking.

toy soldiers off to war
I forgot how much I like making icons. Perhaps I should start that up again. I could certainly stand to screencap the hell out of some Granada!Holmes moments, because this show is golden.

LOLFUL.
Have started watching Holmes again. I have to say, Jeremy Brett's AGH THERE IS A WOMAN ON ME KILL IT KILL IT face is pretty goddamn epic. XD Also the little sparkle he does when Watson tells him he's unique. I do approve.

Of course, I also approve of this version.

IT IS SO TRUE. IT IS JUST SO PAINFULLY TRUE.

[EDIT]

WATSON: :D Such pleasant air!
HOLMES: *HACKS AND COUGHS IN UTTER MISERY*
WATSON: :D Where are we going again?
HOLMES: Mmmmnghgfhhgfg. T__T *burrows deeper into blanket* Nuuuuuu.
(some minutes of conversation)
WATSON: Surely the house is warme--
HOLMES: THE HOUSE. IS FREEZING. T___T

He causes me physical pain. XDDD (And then of course he starts giggling with the cocaine and I go sjkdfhsjahfjsdhf all over the place.)

better.
Just finishing the third box set of the Granada series, and I have to say, there may actually be nothing better than Watson pistol-whipping folk.

Unless it is Mrs Hudson. Because that woman. She is so much love.

I just want to say: until the mood crash, today was really pretty excellent. Afterward, it all skidded pretty rapidly downhill, but I'm feeling in much better spirits after a bath and a long night on my own, in my own space.

I bought far too many things today. But now that I reflect on my purchases with a little more sanity, I think they will all be worth it.

(Particularly the Holmes soundtrack that will be in the post to me by the end of August.)

[EDIT] And also, just so we're clear on the kind of sdfjah today held: it was fabulous, it really was, I was soaring, I was watching Chira draw commissions, and then she started on Sanga and I lost all coherence, which was fine.

Then I accidentally copy-pasted an explanation of Sanga into the work social channel.

AHAHAHAHA. HAHA. HA. orz

[EDIT] So that everyone can see: Chira drew me Sanga looking MANLY FINE.

Hiru spent the entire time this was being drawn bitching and moaning that it wasn't right, he wasn't right, what the hell did I think I was doing having him commissioned anyway--

Which culminated in this.

I don't know what the hell is so wrong about the first one, but okay, honey. Whatever you say.

People are fascinating.
This week, there was a storm of protest online when Robert Downey Jr. suggested his onscreen Sherlock Holmes—scheduled to hit theater screens on Christmas—might have had a gay fling with Watson (Jude Law). Gawker described the "full blown gay panic" from conservative film critic Michael Medved. "Who is going to watch Downey Jr. and Law make out?" he asked. "I don't think it would be appealing to women. Straight men don't want to see it."
- What if G.I. Joe Were Gay?

Actually, I'm pretty sure I'd pay good money for that. But not in a Sherlock Holmes movie. XD That's not the point, guys.

The sad part is So maybe it's just a matter of time before we see our first openly gay action hero. Um, guys? THERE ARE LOADS OF THEM. It's not our fault you're blind to nuance.

End of the article linked above is worth reading, though. :3 Awww. You go, little old lady.

That wasn't actually what I wanted to talk about, it just caught my interest as I was browsing LJ.

Because Mum just walked back in.

I HAVE SHADOW MAGIC.

So now I am off to ignore my cleaning and read about the aftermath of metal dragons in the Empire. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh! *runs*

[EDIT] Except I just have to link that Gawker article so I don't forget to read it because it has script excerpts that may or may not be totally invented.

[EDIT] Except that I clearly don't know when to stop:
But the only explicit sex mentioned is a half-naked post-coital shot of Downey and Rachel McAdams in bed.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH HE ADMIRES HER FOR HER MIND BECAUSE SHE IS AMAZING YOU BASTAAAAAAAARDSSSSDJHDJFhjsdfhadjsfhljksdfks

The Blue Carbuncle and the Copper Beeches
These two Holmes episodes are on the menu for the evening, because I can't go straight on and watch The Sign of Four, and I am already dying of laughter because Holmes before he's awake is freaking hilarious. Particularly when he is forced to handle dead goose. Also, oh my god, Watson has brought holly.

I have... so little to say about work today. XD I did stuff. I was productive. I didn't quite get to finish something I thought I ought to finish, but I did finish the neverending chapter.

Ummmm. Yeah. Brain down. Off I go.

what am i doing oh god help whyyyy
So today Shadow Magic was officially released and I do not have it and SOMETHING'S WRONG. DDDD:

I had another lovely 6am meeting, continued working on the neverending chapter (WHICH IS NEARLY ENDING OMG) and finally gave in the urge to send off y own obsessive-compulsive project charting to management since they obviously do not care enough/are too busy to do anything about the confusion plaguing Engineering. "LOOK, I PUT THIS TOGETHER A FEW WEEKS AGO," I said. "AS AN EXAMPLE," I said. "YOU MIGHT FIND IT USEFUL," I said. I am preparing for epic OTZ moments in the future and praying that I have not bitten off more than I can chew, here.

Resisting the urge to shake some people until they learn to play nicely.

Also resisting the urge to watch MANY EPISODES of Sherlock Holmes tonight, since there is no middleware meeting tomorrow morning.

In other news, must stop storing the Earl Grey with the Traditional Afternoon. WEIRD THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN MY MOUTH.

And with that, I am off to write so that Tina does not enact cruel punishments upon me. Sob, doesn't she realise I could be enjoying Jeremy Brett's nose?

He doesn't come to me for sympathy.
I know I only managed to see snippets of like three episodes of this when I was younger, but ffff, Jeremy Brett. One True Holmes. Five minutes and you want to slap the bastard, it's fantastic. He's fantastic. And Watson. "What? What? We're doing what? DDD:"

I am trying not to have flaily fangirl heart attacks over here and not succeeding very well.

Um. Um. Neek, remind me to lend these to you at some point, okay, because fffffff. Ffffffff.

[EDIT] Totally making my own icons of this if I can't bloody find any more, ffff.

[EDIT] *pffsnrrrk* Word.

This has nothing to do wtitch Balfour; I just love this icon.
I have spent the entire afternoon, having finished HBP, wanting nothing but to fling myself into either Sherlock Holmes or Felix Harrowgate, and settling on the middle ground of Jeremy Brett's nose. Yes, I am quite mad. And how are you this day?

I want to draw Felix but the computer is over there, and sketches seem pointless when I'm painting (sad but true).

Perhaps I'll just start from the beginning of The Adventures and go from there.

Yes, even though I've not read the new Hobb book yet. Sigh.

[EDIT] Um. And that random letter string in the subject was meant to be "with". :|
