So!
So the moment I walked into work today, Rudi pinged me on IRC with the news that he had four advance passes to Coraline 3D and was only using two of them. :D! Spent the rest of the day in a glee-induced tizz (all right, and a JBoss-induced hissy fit) and trotted off to Chermside this evening with Rudi, his wife, and Chris, who sits opposite me and patiently explains CLI commands to me forty or fifty times before I get them.

The movie was good! Very pretty, and I still love the vibrant colouring. The Other Mother is deliciously creepy and thorax-shaped. I do approve. Now to read the book, orz.

This is a writing meme I pretty much made up because I wanted to see Katie's handwriting today. :D )

And you know, I actually came home feeling like I wanted to write, so I think I'm going to! Night, all!

OH MY GOD
GUYS

NEIL GAIMAN

ON THE COLBERT REPORT

.........SERIOUSLY WHAT COULD BE BETTER :D

[EDIT] NATION, HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE A MAN WHO CAN QUOTE LARGE PORTIONS OF BOMBADIL SONGS.

Er, I mean, I am in bed asleep and certainly not refreshing Colbert Nation until the new episode shows up, or drawing goings on in my head.

Incidentally, Tina, Hiru's REALLY MAD at this whole lovechild thing. XD

why have I never heard 'before dawn' before, it is lovely. :(
Definitely coming down with something, but buggered if I know what. It's been probably the better part of a week, so it could be Josh's 'flu' - boy, that'll teach me to stand next to him; fuck off, immune system - but since I don't yet feel like I've been run over by a truck that seems unlikely. Just my usual trick of spending a month coming down with something and 48 hours actually having it, I expect.

Also, [info]alleyne - that fic I posted? And had no idea where it had gone? [info]no_true_pairing got it.

*weeps*

Also, this poster is really reminding me of Dilly and Parilthon right now. XD

Also I... really should be leaving for work very soon and I have not brushed my hair.

Any second now.
I'm going to feel like a total creep any minute now, but Neil Gaiman really is about the most attractive author/person in the world just saying. That picture of him when he was younger, er, immediately linked him with Turner in my mind and now I am like, wow, if they had children, their children would be beautiful and even more amazingly talented and possibly insane. And I am not allowed to talk about people that I have intellectual crushes on because an intellectual crush makes me find people physically attractive and I am going to just shut up and squee quietly now. This post brought to you by the young Neil Gaiman who really does look like Turner's self-portrait just with darker hair. :3 :3

Did not finish the fic before bedtime, but that was mostly Thom refusing to cooperate. Plans for the day involve:
- studying kanji
- doing my LAST EXAM EVER AHAHAHAHA
- writing the rest of this fic
- going to bed around eleven so that I am not dead for work the next day

the bandanna and the ice pack.
Strapping on both and settling in to write for a few hours this morning. My leaving the blinds open plan sort of worked and sort of did not... I woke up naturally... but it's cloudy this morning, so I woke up a lot later than I wanted to. XD; Oh well.

In other news, Human!Mordecai is clearly attractive to me only because he is Mordecai, because otherwise I don't really like his appearance at all. (But... little hands! Little neat hands! XD I want this series published, yo.)

I did finish The Graveyard Book last night (it did not take very long) and flailed a good deal more about Silas. I bet there is already an abundance of Silas/Bod slash on the internet, and I sincerely hope Gneil intends to do more with Bod and with the Honour Guard because I haven't yet placed all the mythical identities in it and I would like more information. XD

It is not the best book he has ever written. The style was a little simplistic for Neil, I think, presumably because it was actively trying to be a children's book. I do, however, need the following on an icon, because it was pretty much the greatest moment ever, and it went,
"So," said Silas. "Now there are only three of us."
"And a pig," said Kandar.
"Why?" asked Miss Lupescu, [spoiler spoiler spoiler]. "Why the pig?"
"It's lucky," said Kandar.
Miss Lupescu growled, unconvinced.
"Did Haroun have a pig?" asked Kandar, simply.

And now I am definitely going to start writing and definitely not going to go and look up any of the aforementioned Silas/Bod slash because of not-really spoilers but my shipping decisions do have some bearing on plot, I suppose. )

huh.
The sad part is when you can say, "My muse needs a holiday, and NaNoWriMo is it!" and mean it.

I cannot believe how exhausting this semester has been. It's just been one massive heap of crap after another. I can write three novel thingies at the same time, but novels + essays + presentations + vocab in other languages? Fuck off.

I am going to bed now, and I'm going to leave my blinds open so that I will wake up naturally. Then I will write by hand because this is hurting me. Hopefully I will become so absorbed that I actually forget I have other things to do.

[EDIT] read a little bit of neil gaiman's graveyard book and now i am wide awake and squealing because oh, oh neil. your characters. they make me weep gleefully into my hands.

Silas. I want to cuddle him. A lot.

Oh, Neil. <3 <3 <3
