Day of Learning
Today I did two whole subjects at RHU, and discovered a cafe that sells Stockholme Blend in town. *_* My life, it is awesome.

Echoing E.K. here - YouTube just justified its existence. :D

Tonight I'ma finish plot-snaking, and then I'ma write something. Or I want to, anyway. XD I'm probably going to feel like flomping after I finish the plot snake.

Aaaaaand, for [info]howl_for_words's sake, I decided (ironically) that I Can't Decide by The Scissor Sisters belonged on the Xolotl FST. So there it is for download. ^_^ Totally a Xolotl song. (Yes, Wyrren, this makes Xolotl the Master. QUIVER WITH FEAR.)

Mmm, mummy brought me ice cream and fruit salad. :D!

[EDIT] I love Kate Beaton so much. I get a BOOK of this soon. In the mail. And everything. TESLAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Comment with the name of a character, pairing, etc in one of my fandoms. I'll post you an "instant" mini-fanmix: a cover and 3-5 songs that remind me of that character/pairing/show/etc. I'll upload the songs and everything.

Please keep in mind that by 'fanmix' I also mean 'origimix' and also that I love sharing music. :D

Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. I was planning to draw our favourite mopey Valentine for the occasion but, well, hands. So just pretend you have a set of smouldering red eyes, or whatever it is Vincent's eyes do aside from apathetically cataloguing his surroundings out of habit, and go from there.

Wherever that might be. :| That sentence got long.

Still haven't decided what to sing for the audition. James is still asleep so I can't actually warm up at all. Scream. Yes, I know there are six hours before I even have to leave, but whatever, who asked you, djfh.

I have forgotten when and how to breathe and my posture is hideous and I vaguely recall Alison Rogers as a terrifying figure, although this could be because Ursula Hurworth fainted and split her lip the last time we worked with her.

If I admitted to doing this on the off chance they have nice uniforms, would I be shot?

[EDIT] Proof I should talk to Tom more often: The Real Folk Blues, you idiot. It is the perfect demonstration of my comfortable range and my singing strengths, even if it is all more or less in the one rhythm.

[EDIT] For [info]tainted4life (and hypothetically [info]leviathanmirror: Alanis Morissette's "Hand In My Pocket", which is SO MUCH A YUFFIE SONG I cannot believe Katie hadn't heard in much, dhfjhd, American Radio Fail.

[BOX.NET FOLDER]

I promised [info]alleyne and/or [info]kuchibue a while ago to upload this, and I've finally become bored enough. It is a parody in song of the LotR movies. My favourite line is still, yet he has. no. backpack.

And now I am off to Toombul, where they will hopefully have actual splints available to me.

Things Discovered While Cleaning
1) Rock Band Drum Kits, when dismantled, can be used to mimic weapons. Specifically Shelke's light sabre thingies in Dirge of Cerberus. I'm still not sure why I was so delighted to discover this. I'm marking it down to INTENSE BOREDOM, because at least half of me still insists that Shelke is not a Real Character. (I wish I could get past this, but, no, friends, I am just not that mature.)

2) My great and epic love for Stephen Colbert. I am just completely in love with this man, okay, I am not even sure why. I see his face and I feel like the media is okay. XD In particular, yes, guys. THIS IS WHAT FAIR USE MEANS. ...I'm kind of amused that I found this in a post involving a Jon/Stephen video but Colbert's reverse psychology approach is something I greatly approve of. XD

Okay, so I may just like how animated his face is. Shh.

3) Oh fuck yes Stockholm Blend. Not that this really counts as discovering but oh fuck yes. <3 <3 <3 It is way too hot for tea, really, but somehow it is refreshing anyway? Go figure.

4) I have been listening to this mix almost exclusively for about a week. |D; It is a mix of Gay Bar and House in the Country, or whatever that song's called. It's kind of awesome.

In other news, [info]tainted4life is writing Chocarena fic set in F&F!verse and we are possibly never allowed to talk to each other ever again because we have entirely too much fun.

Suffered my first defeat at the hands of Sephiroth a few hours ago, and it was less glorious than it could have been. *sigh* He's not as awesome as he should be... and he still beat me hands-down. XD How's that for a mark of sheer awesome? The first battle wasn't an issue, but the second one... ahahaha, I need higher attack power so that he doesn't kill me dead. And possibly to equip that Vital Slash materia at some point. XD;

Also, Neek, THIS MASHUP IS AMAZING. :DDDDDDD Brick by Ben Folds' Five melded with Manic Monday by the Bangles = a mashup that was made to be. The backgrounds are perfect for each other, although I think the actual singing is a little busy. XD But it's awesome. Also, Billy Joel. :DDDDD (Except that Sanga has appropriated "River of Dreams". anyway, this cake is great.
Actually appropriate on many levels, as my mother made date cake this evening in between bar-hopping and going on long walks. I did have to work with fucking Luke, of course, after laughing all afternoon over how it wasn't even possible. You know the hilarious thing? The first thing he says to me tonight is, "Oh, hi. We didn't get much stock done today because I only had three people on all day."

And you didn't get much stock done? With only three people? On a Saturday, which from the look of sales was actually slower than it was on my Friday night shift? IMAGINE THAT! Funny how it takes more than three people to get stock done, isn't it! You hypocritical bastard. *chk-BLAM*

Anyway, for [info]narnizzle and all the rest of you who did not get it last time:
GLaDOS - STILL ALIVE:
http://www.box.net/shared/enxwhirk0c

DOWNLOAD IT. It is epic and hilarious and probably makes more sense if you know something about Portal. Also, speaks to my mood about the entire work thing. XD Psychotic computer systems. You must love them. Or at least sing along.

[EDIT]

Just as a point of interest, I have this. Unilateral, as far as I can tell, but it's been getting worse as I get older - it used to only happen when I get tired, but I think now I'm tired a greater percentage of the time, which is the reason that it happens more often. Sadly I am squint-eyed and not skew-eyed, or I would gleefully cosplay Felix.

It's only slight, so it's not like it's of major cosmetic panic, but one thing I have noticed is that while my left eye is the eye that turns inward, it also sees better than the right eye - I mean, if I cover the right eye, the left can see clearly and can focus with little difficulty. If I cover the left eye, though, the right has considerably more trouble - things appear.... not quite blurred, but there is a definite sense that surfaces aren't matching up. That doesn't happen with the left eye. It might just be because I rely more heavily on the right eye, since the left is fucky, but either way, it's probably something I should have looked at at some point. The last thing I need is to be the crazy cock-eyed cat lady at eighty. XD

"I have little interest in male corpses. Female corpses, however..."
Okay, so, [info]leviathanmirror told me about a million years ago to find The Demon Ororon, and I did find it at Supanova this year, but today was the first time I sat down to actually read it. Did you predict that I would get all keyboard-smashy over Othello, Katy? I'm sure you could see it coming. In any case, the guy is a scream. XD I'm also kind of stupidly fond of the cat monsters, too. I'm going to try not to just churn through the whole series today, since I do have other things to be getting on with, but... well, we'll see how that goes. XD It's kind of cold this morning, so I'd relish the opportunity to curl up in bed and finish the collection.

Apparently there was a great hullaballoo outside at four o' clock this morning, which I missed, which at least means that I got a decent night's sleep for once in my life. Woke up at eight-thirty to my alarm, turned it off, and promptly crawled back into bed because it was freezing, yo, and I was not going to put up with that. Reading of Ororon commenced, because I didn't want to go back to sleep in case I slept until midday or something, and now... well, I think I'm cleaning the bathroom and then my room and then... presumably studying for Japanese before I go to work. >_>; Really cannot be bothered, to tell the truth, but as if that matters, right? Right. *huff*

[info]alleyne, I don't know if you're back in Brisbane yet, but do you want to have lunch on Tuesday? I have an exam in the evening, and I figure I'll get more study done at university than at home. Also, I need to locate Z Block at GP, and gods only know where that is, so I had best have some wandering time on my hands. XD

Stress: A Cowboy Bebop FMV. :'D Awesome song, awesome cuts. ♥ And it included Gren! What's not to like! God, I need to watch this series again. Maybe in Japanese. XD; I like their English voices in Bebop. (Also, have Sail On to One Piece, because it is the most amazing FMV in the universe. That is all.)

YES, I AM WORKING. SHUT UP.

For [info]alleyne, because I promised, but for the rest of you, too - the new Lifehouse album, Who We Are, which is a little weird, to be honest. It's not... them. And Jason Wade sounds more like Rob Thomas at times, and it's bizarre, and at other times they sound like Maroon 5, and that's even more bizarre, and guh. Anyway, here are the tracks, and I do like it better the second time around. )

Also, I was talking to Squeaker today about... uh... Zelda. And we got on to gay OTPs of our childhoods. And it's kind of surprising to me, but I shipped a LOT of stuff before I even knew it was possible. XD So apparently I was open-minded about this stuff before I even knew that it was an optional thing. Open minded and happy with polyamory, because - for example - I loved Donald/Daisy like burning, but I loved Donald/Goofy and Goofy/Pete, even as I loved Meg/Pete in Goof Troop. XD I am going to go ahead and blame this on my parents having an awesome divorce, because that's probably the reason I am so perfectly okay with people that are good for other people being involved with those people. Which is also why I loathed my stepfather. Kyla was good for Dad. John was not good for Mum. That's as simple as it gets. (I kind of want to sit down with my mother and talk this stuff out with her, but she's not reflexively analytical, so I can't see it going well; I can see her getting very defensive, and then very offensive, and that would be missing the point.)

In other news, I am not being very productive today. :( You may have noticed. I just don't want to do this damn assignment. :(

Also, I am laughing my ass off at my Novel tutor sending me an email containing the phrase WORD UP. XD He... he just doesn't seem like that kind of guy.......... XD XD XD

I may or may not also be laughing my ass off at today's Penny Arcade, which I feel that [info]flamika will also appreciate. *crying* I mean, I read that series, terrible as it has indeed become. I did actually squeal in a store the other day when I saw there was a new one due out. But at no point could I tell you, without some pretty serious clarifications about what exactly I was talking about, that they were good. ♥

BON AMI OR SOMETHING FRENCH LIKE THAT
Here's that music I promised. ^_^ Plus some Yoko Kanno songs, because she's amazing and must be shared at all times. Asterisks mark the songs that must be downloaded at all costs.

When Water Comes to Life // CLOUD CULT (*)
and when they burn your body
all that's left is sand crystals
two tiny handfuls
all the rest is water, water, water

Hurricane and Fire Survival Guide // CLOUD CULT
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I will laugh my way through hurricanes and fire.
That's why you don't want to bring me down.

Grounds for Divorce // ELBOW (*)
There's a hole in my neighbourhood,
down which of late I cannot help but fall.
(Mondays is for drinking to the seldom-seen kid.)

Grace Under Pressure // ELBOW
We still believe in love,
so fuck you.

Buttons and Zips // ELBOW
Will I ever get your song off my lips, is what you said.
We were at each other's buttons and zips, in each other's bed...

Station Approach // ELBOW (*)
You know, you drive me up the wall.
I need to see your face, that's all.
You little sod, I love your eyes -
Be everything to me tonight.
I never know what I want, but I know when I'm low that I,
I need to be in the town where they know what I'm like and don't mind.

Lithium Flower // YOKO KANNO
She's so good, she's so good,
she's a goddess
Lithium flower
Subsonic waves

Want It All Back // YOKO KANNO (*)
I couldn't take you to Miami
I took you to the ocean and we
had some Blue Hawaiis on the beach

Blue // YOKO KANNO (*)
Everything is clearer now.
Life is just a dream, y'know,
it's never-ending.
I am ascending.
(There's something about blue.)

Diggin' // YOKO KANNO (*)
COULD IT BE THAT I GOT BORED AND LONELY?
COULD IT BE THAT I'M JUST DUMB AND HORNY?
COULD IT BE THAT LADY LUCK HAS SMILED HERSELF DOWN ON ME?

And just so everyone knows, that last one? BEST SONG EVER, I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY.

(Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, CLAMP. JUNE 2ND? ARE YOU SERIOUS. AIUGDTYFUSDJMFCNDSBGVFS. ...well, I suppose this chapter isn't a cliffhanger, but... but... oh, god, it made me squeak with happy. XD Heeeeee. All right, I guess I can wait another month.)
