Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. >:\
Dear California:

Fuck you and your Proposition 8. You'll vote no to looking at alternative and renewable energies, but hell, go ahead and vote yes to crushing gay rights underfoot once again. Sure. Why the fuck not. After the wonderful day in politics, you could have done something a little more progressive, guys.

No love,
Rave.

82% of votes in, and still 1.7% higher on the Yea than Nay? I'm tipping it's going through. >:\ It's been steady for hours.

We all know that homosexuals are possessed by the devil and should be stoned in the village square.

Oh, wait, no, that was in 1745, not 2008.

I'm stunned. All those poor couples that thought they'd finally have equal legal rights.

On the bright side, it was by a narrow margin...maybe it can be fixed?

Also also bright side: Apple came out very much against prop 8 *pets her iMac*

I know. :( I can't imagine how they must feel at the moment. But it's okay. Appeals are going through. Give it a year, and we might have it back again.

You know, when I visited home back in August I had to go to the San Francisco Courthouse to get an apostille on my California criminal clearance, to the very room that the marriage licenses were given out from. While I waited, I got to see a few couples get legally married. One was a gay couple... everyone cheered when it was their turn.

I just... don't see how this proposition to take that away could have been passed. It's more than a disappointment. It's a devastation of so many peoples' dreams that had already come true.

It's all right. *cuddles tight* It'll come back. :) Like the tag says, you can't stop the gay - it's not going away, and sooner or later folk are going to have to accept that, like with folk of differing ethnicities, marriage is okay.

Way to harsh everyone's election squee, California. -_-

Then I ran into a few posts along these lines and felt a lot better about the universe again.
