my mother does not listen
Either I am accidentally failing to have a tone of voice, or my mother has no tone sensitivity and thinks that everything is a VIOLENT ARGUMENT. We were chatting about bus routes and the possibility of seeing my grandmother.

ME: We could go to Chermside so it's completely air-conditioned.
MUM: You don't want to be too far from home if your hands start hurting.
ME: Hmm, and I'm not sure the Great Circle runs on Saturdays...
MUM: THE BUS IS RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR; IT'S NOT PART OF THE GREAT CIRCLE LINE.
ME: ...I know. I was referring to the bus that Grandma has to catch. o.0
MUM: SHE CAN JUST CATCH A BUS INTO THE CITY AND THE SAME BUS AS YOU OUT THERE.
ME: Yes, but it would be less hassle for her if the-- o.0;
MUM: OH WHATEVER YOU TURN EVERYTHING INTO AN ARGUMENT.
ME: I'm not arguing, I'm just discussing alou-- djhfh-- dsjhfd-- GAH! *throws up hands and goes back to Swordspoint*

I'm honestly not sure she even understands the distinction.

In other news, Swordspoint? Amazing book. I keep having to pause to rave about it because I get overexcited about it. I'm failing to keep the politics straight but that is just a me thing, I think, and will improve with rereads and obsessive note-taking.

The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkien
by Martin Pearson

[BOX.NET FOLDER]

I promised [info]alleyne and/or [info]kuchibue a while ago to upload this, and I've finally become bored enough. It is a parody in song of the LotR movies. My favourite line is still, yet he has. no. backpack.

And now I am off to Toombul, where they will hopefully have actual splints available to me.

hands
got proper splints today. will likely be away from the interwebs for a while. am relying on you all to tell me the second corambis podcasts are available.

also went to see valkyrie today, [info]tainted4life, and all I really have to say is thank god they stopped tom cruise from speaking german within the first two minutes. good enough, though. (yes i know i am the world's worst bitch where films are involved.)

[EDIT]

Dear Ms Kushner,

I am on p265 of Swordspoint and because it is a melodrama I know it will probably get worse again before it gets better.

But I wanted you to know that at this point one Alec may be my favourite character in any book written in this style, and I would currently like to haul him out of the book by his lapels and kiss him until St Vier is persuaded to kill me.

JUST SAYING,
Rave
